Children's After School Care

After-School Programmes for Children of Low Income Families (Little Sun)
The Salvation Army operates After-school programme for children of low income families in our corps. The programme operates mostly from about 2.00pm to 6.00pm, 5 days a week and  a full day summer program in many weeks during the school vacation time.

The families who present are typically headed up by a single parent who has to work to make ends meet.  There is a particularly high concentration of this demographic in the area adjacent to Corps in Taichung. The city government in each centre partly funds this project, so the service can be offered with no fees requested, but donations are taken from families and members of the community.

The children are engaged in a range of activities including supervised and supported homework, creative play, and self-esteem building activities.  Meals are also provided and specialised classes like English speaking classes are offered when available.
