The Salvation Army in Taiwan Today
The Salvation Army in Taiwan is led by the Regional Commander and Regional President of Women’s Ministries, Major Sara Tam.
Her positions are appointed by the General of the Salvation Army, General Brian Peddle of the International Headquarters in London. The Salvation Army is structured in a quarsi military style with leadership vested in the General. The chain of command extends from the General, through the Chief of Staff, into overseas departments, into the Region and then into individual community units.
The movement founded in 1865 by William Booth, has spread from England to many parts of the world, helping countless people in over 132 countries. Although the Salvation Army in Taiwan commenced in 1928, it was officially established in 1965 to serve those in need to the best of our abilities.
To this end, we operate 5 Corps (churches), 2 outposts, 1 day centre and 3 community services
